I have been working since 1980, when I began my career as a Draughtsman and Design Technician, designing items for a major bathroom fittings company. In 1986 I moved on to work for a Ministry Of Defence subcontractor and started to use computers, taking the opportunity to train in Computer Aided Design (CAD). I purchased my first home computer in 1990, using it to compile work for a degree course. In 1999 I continued to use computers in my new role as a Materials Planner. I have since worked as an administrator for a charitable debt advice organisation, using computers to organise client records. I am therefore used to maintaining clients’ confidentiality at all times. I am also bound by the Official Secrets Act, due to previous involvement with military equipment projects.

I have recently been working for two local public libraries as an I.T. “Buddy“, providing one-to-one computer training to the Public. The favourable feedback received has encouraged me to become a personal tutor and I can therefore offer a computer training service to suit a client’s experience, requirements and availability. I have undergone a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check, details of which can be provided on request. I can also provide professional references as proof of good character.

I have accumulated a lot of experience and life skills in over 25 years of employment. I can use these to good effect as a patient, enthusiastic and empathetic trainer, dedicated to helping any beginner to understand and get the best from their Personal Computer. There is no upper age limit to learning any new skill; if you are keen to learn then I am keen to teach you. At home, informally, at a time that suits you. If you are worried about how you would cope with a college course; or if you cannot easily get out, then home tuition could be just what you are looking for.
